COVID Travel : Qatar updates travel rules for inbound passengers

As from December 1st 2021, Qatar has new regulations for inbound passengers into the country. In addition to visa, tickets , a valid negative pcr tests, travelers are expected to have a pre approval from the Qatari government through Ehteraz.
The approval can be obtained by creating an application on the Ehteraz platform (you can download the app or use the mobile site) submitting a request and get an approval .
To process the application, an intending traveler must submit copies of his /her passport, negative pcr test (optional), COVID certificate (for fully vaccinated passengers) , and accommodation booking .
The accommodation can either be home accommodation (for those with family visas, proof of relationship might be requested) or hotel reservations (only bookings done through Discover Qatar, Qatar airways holidays are acceptable), as they are the only hotels approved for quarantine services.
The hotel costs are expensive between 2000 Qr to 6000 Qr (Qatari rial) depending on number of days and guests. The costs covers airport transfers (trip from airport to hotel) , feeding while in quarantine and accommodation.
Vaccinated passengers must quarantine for two days on their arrival , while unvaccinated passengers will be quarantined for 7 days , at the end of the quarantine period , they will be tested for COVID. Those who test negative will be allowed to exit the quarantine facility while whose who test positive will undergo further isolation for more days until they eventually test negative.
To avoid delays at the airports or totally missing out on flights, it is best to plan ahead early for your intending travel to Qatar . Make a request for pre approval at weeks or 3 days (for Qatari residents ) before your intended travel, also do your hotel booking early as limited spaces and dates are available for the isolation period .

Note : Other airlines don’t carry passengers with Fan ID visas into Qatar, only Qatar airways does.
